First Friday Opening Reception May 5th, 2017
May’s First Friday features the paintings of our very own Kay Van Dyke, founder of Arts on Main. Kay came to Guinea from San Francisco, CA in 1984 and in 2010, founded Gloucester Arts on Main (now, Arts on Main) as a nonprofit organization offering a space in the village for artists and the performing arts, and providing arts education for adults and children.
Kay’s show includes watercolor portraits of her grandchildren and abstract works in watercolor and acrylic. Live music will be provided by Jerry Sowers of Newport News, an acoustic folk singer/songwriter and music teacher at Phillips Elementary School, in Hampton. Among other recognitions for his musical achievement, he came in second in the 2017 Sea Level Festival Singer/Songwriter’s competition. This “First Friday” event is free and open to the public, with beer, wine and food available for purchase.
