Glassblowing with York River Glass
June 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm$60.00
Learn the wonder and joy of working with glass! Initially, you will get the feel for the heat by making two objects, a glass flower, and a paperweight. Repeat students will move on to more advanced techniques and projects.
Students will complete two finished works during class. The finished pieces will need to anneal in the studio for 24 hours. Works can be picked up at Arts on Main the following business day. Please call the gallery (804-824-9464) prior to picking up.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR CLASS: Students will need to wear cotton clothing, long pants, and shirts. No open-toed shoes will be permitted in the glass studio. Hair should be held back from the face, the use of bandanas is suggested. Prepare to sweat! Safety equipment will be provided and sanitized prior to use. Water and electrolytes will be provided as you will lose plenty due to the heat. Please be aware, due to the nature of learning glass blowing, social distancing is not always possible. While we will do our best to maintain these standards within the class, if you have strict health concerns we suggest that you not take this course. We ask that if you have experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms leading up to the day of class that you call the gallery to find an alternate class date.
