
Pastel Techniques with Emily Christoff Flowers (In-Person & via ZOOM)

An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until February 24, 2021

This series of eight classes with artist Emily Christoff Flowers is designed to explore the technical aspects of pastels. The focus of each class will be on materials, techniques, design, subject matter, and personal expression. Students will explore four separate processes over eight classes divided into four sessions (two sessions per class). Advanced artists may draw at their own pace. You may work from your own original photographs, still life set-ups, or you may draw along with the instructor using the same reference photo. A materials list will be provided upon registration for the class.
Session One: Drawing with pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes tinted pastel paper
-Class 1: You will also learn about tracing versus drawing in addition to the session focus
-Class 2: You will also learn about space and perspective in addition to the session focus
Session Two: Drawing with pastel over a watercolor painting
-Class 3: You will also learn about color in addition to the session focus.
-Class 4: You will also learn about texture and mark-making in addition to the session focus.
Session Three: Drawing with pastel on textured homemade sanded board
-Class 5: You will also learn about value and light in addition to the session focus.
-Class 6: You will also learn about shape in addition to the session focus.
Session Four: Drawing animals on velour paper
– Class 7: You will also learn about Line in addition to the session focus.
-Class 8: You will also learn about Composition in addition to the session focus.
Wednesdays, beginning February 24th and ending April 14th from 1:00 – 2:30
Ages 16+
Students can attend all four sessions or choose the specific sessions they want to attend. Pay per session or for all sessions up-front.
ZOOM is available for this class for those who do not wish to attend in person
If you wish to participate via ZOOM, registrants will need to call the gallery to pay and provide their email address so that the ZOOM link can be sent to their email address and phone number. If you are purchasing this class for two people, please register separately, providing a different email address and phone number. A ZOOM link will be sent to both addresses and both addresses will need to check-in via ZOOM, even if you are in the same household. You will also need to make note of your favorite colors so that your flow art kit can be packaged for you.
