Supply List:

Photographic references – please choose several of your own photographs for your use.  The photos can be on another device (for instance, if you are using an ipad for the Zoom class you can use images on a phone) or you can print them out. They do not have to be perfect photographs or prints, just as long as you took them. I also have some photos on this page which you are welcome to use.  You also always have the option to paint from a still life set up in your studio.

You do not need to purchase supplies for this class if you have similar supplies of your own. Below is the minimum you will need.

– Sketchbook and a black sharpie or brush pen – (I use a Pentel ink brush pen with refillable cartridge).

– Materials for painting in your media of choice – Instruction will be in oils.

– Canvas pad, or oil paper pad, or multi-media pad – (I use Arches paper for oil).

– Canvases or gessoed board of various sizes 9 x 12 – 14 x 18

– Brushes: selection of filberts, flats, small to large, mostly in the medium range (size 6-12)

– Palette knives

– Solvent such as Gamsol

– Medium of your choice (I use Gamsol Solvent-Free Gel)

– View finder

Paints: whatever brand you use or are comfortable spending money on is fine!

You should have a minimum of 2 yellows, 2 reds, 2 blues, a red or orange earth, and a large tube of white.

(I use mostly Rembrandt oils and have – Cad Yellow Light or Lemon, Cad Med Yellow, Cad Red Light, Quinacridone Red, Ultramarine Blue, Manganese Blue, Titanium/Zinc White or Mixed White).

– Easel and palette

Special note for beginners: If you are a beginner, consider purchasing a sturdy French Easel or other travel easel which you can easily put up and takedown. An inexpensive tabletop easel is also an option for beginners who paint sitting and do not plan to do much painting in the field. If you do not already have a palette, Grey Matters by Richeson makes gray disposable palette paper pads which are preferable to the white palette paper pads.

For your information, no need to purchase: Lynn uses a couple of inexpensive LED tabletop studio lights for flowers in her lightbox which she purchased from Amazon: Emart Photography LED Continuous Light Lamp 5500K Portable Camera Photo Lighting for Table Top Studio.
