On Saturday, professional artist Karen Eide taught

On Saturday, professional artist Karen Eide taught an Encaustic Painting & Mixed Media Lab at Arts on Main and it was SO COOL!

Students learned classic encaustic painting techniques and explored how to combine them with contemporary processes such as surface embellishment, image transfer, incising, collaging, and creating marks and images with oil paint, pastels, markers, and inks. Their finished paintings turned out so stunning!!

This class was organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and was funded, in part, by the Paul Mellon Endowment and the Jean Stafford Camp Memorial Fund.
