Construct a Felted Purse by Janet Griffin
Fabricate a wearable art piece! Form of purse will be approximately 12″ wide by 14″ tall. We will choose our top quality colors of Corriedale and Romney fibers, as well as silk and mohair to construct our one-of-a-kind work of art. This class is suitable for teens as well as adults!
Cost of Class: $50 plus $15 material fee

Have you ever wondered about encaustic painting but didn’t want to be involved with toxic fumes and heat guns? If so, cold wax oil painting might be for you. If you enjoy working with texture, cold wax is another way to develop texture and form in your art. Learn the basics of cold wax painting and experiment with using this method while developing your design skills and starts for new projects. During this workshop, there will be demonstrations to teach basic work with the oil and cold wax process. Bring a readiness to learn new techniques and lots of enthusiasm.
This workshop is taught by Mary Montague Sikes. Sikes has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her paintings are in the collections of the College of William and Mary Law Library, Media General, Philip Morris, Marriott Hotels, SuperClubs Jamaica, One Capitol Square (Richmond VA), and many more. Her work is also part of numerous private collections in the United States and abroad.
The workshop runs for 3 days from August 28th-30th. Class fee is $135 for the 3 days. Supply list provided upon registration.
Flow Art or Fluid Acrylics is part art and part science! By mixing water based paint and various oils, fun bubbles or cells will form into a joyous, magical, and colorful mix onto your canvas. Join Ms. Smith, a former Gloucester elementary teacher to create an exciting and always surprising painting without using a paintbrush!

Revel in the Comic Con Culture! Our exhibit this month comes from Jersey Comics. Create your own superhero, design a cape, mask, and implements based on your character that you’ll be able to wear at The Comic Con Festival at the public library on August 11th! Many hands on projects, and super fun!!!
