Join us for a week of artistic exploration for summertime fun! Art campers will learn different techniques and explore different media as they learn about historical artwork and artists. As we cut, draw, paint, glue, play games and interact with each other, children will have an enriching art experience as well as a fun time with new friends! Come join us for a fun-filled week of art adventure!
Paul Cezanne: Still Life Drawing
Using pastels, pencils, and watercolors, students will see the works of the Dutch Masters and of Paul Cezanne’s. Each will produce a still life piece of fruits, and flowers using pastels and charcoal paper.
Michelangelo
Students will learn about this master artist. Raised in a family of stone crafters, his first love was carving. He was then commissioned by the Roman Catholic church to paint the Sistine Chapel. The children will paint upside down under the tables. Michelangelo painted by candlelight on wooden scaffolding for four years to create his masterpiece!
Arcimboldo
Students will be creating collages simulating 16th century Italian artist, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, and his painting portraits using fruits, vegetables, fish, and flowers.
All materials will be provided by the instructor. Limited spots available. Students may bring a snack and a drink with them.
Cost is $120 per student.
Art Adventure Camps will be taught by Anne Atkinson. Anne Atkinson holds a degree in Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has worked as a Scenic Artist for theatre for many years. Anne has taught art to people of all ages- from toddlers to seniors. She was raised in a family that embraced education and the arts…music and painting. Singing and dancing were always part of her life. She is looking forward to encouraging exploration of the arts in Gloucester!
